At the hands of Chinese retailer COSTS, the ASICS GT-2160 takes on a new look inspired by traditional Cantonese shao ji (筲箕) weaving technique. The uppers sport an open weave mesh in an interlocking pattern which is a reference to the namesake weaving, a feature enhanced by the pale beige hue which mimics the colour of bamboo strands in a woven basket.
Hits of indigo blue provide a contrast against the neutral tones of the upper—featuring on the ASICS stripe and select zones on the sole tooling. Alternate laces also use the indigo colour, with co-branded logos printed the full length for a more bold option.
