The resilient nylon is hard wearing whilst the knee patches add more abrasion resistance in a high-wear area. The large pockets at the waistline are large enough for plenty of important gear whilst the back welted pockets come with a zip and can carry anything you're not worried about accidentally sitting on
The included belt—pioneered by Gramicci—is also helpful, allowing single-handed adjustments on the fly.
