ASICS and Needles have joined forces once again to add the Japanese label's signature aesthetic this time to the GEL-NYC. With a blacked-out upper featuring hits of Needles' signature hue of purple, these draw a defined line from the pairing's previous collaboration on the EX89 basketball silhouette.Where the '80s rubber cupsole of the EX89 is more retro, the GEL-NYC sports a decidedly more contemporary silhouette with increased comfort to match. The leather overlays feature purple stitching to define each panel's shape as it cuts across the mesh upper. The signature ASICS stripes sport a finish that echoes the signature graphic which runs up the side of Needles' famed tracksuits. The final call-out rests with the butterfly—or 'papillon' as Needles call it—embroidered into the heel of each shoe.
