First unveiled in 1996, the famed Nike Air Rift continues to look like something from the future almost three decades later.
Designed with the input of barefoot Kenyan long-distance runners, the Air Rift features a laceless, split-toed design which looks equally at home on the runways as it does on the racecourse. The unique tabi-like design was part of Nike's foray into natural motion running design, with the split allowing for the first and second toes to articular in a way more similar to barefoot runners.
This version is one of the original colours released in 1996, completed in the colours of Kenya—where so much of the inspiration and development for this shoe came from.
