American-born designer Sandy Liang continues her partnership with French outdoor masters Salomon—bringing a distinct feminine energy to the brand's signature trail-ready footwear.
Inspired by her upbringing and childhood interests, Liang says that her creative process involves designing pieces she would wear herself, with her own personal style and aesthetic as a starting point.
Working on the trail icon Speedcross 3, Sandy Liang subverts the technical design in a deceptively simple way. Secured by a custom loop system, a delicate ribbon is woven across the uppers—designed to be tied up the wearer's leg like a ballet pointe shoe. The pale pink ribbon's delicate look comes in stark contrast to the Speecross 3's aggressive design language executed in all-black.
