After successfully re-working the Superstar, CLOT now takes a look at another cult classic adidas silhouette in the Gazelle. Re-worked with a unique 'espadrille' theme it renders the model almost unrecognisable.
The 'espadrille' name comes from the midsole which secured with a braided jute midsole—a technique traced-back to Spain where the term 'espardenya' in Catalan refers to an indigenous plant traditionally used to make rope and baskets. The midsole is moccasin stitched to the woven upper which is then overlaid atop the Gazelle Indoor gum sole, meaning the stitches are anchored through the rubber—a detail which can be seen beneath the removable foam insole.
Detailing is in no short supply, from the custom rope laces to intricate beaded stripes which add a touch of sophisticated luxury as they glisten in the light.
